At 37 Angels, our mission is to reduce the gender gap in angel investing. We achieve this primarily through education. Our approach to learning is collaborative, as we encourage and expect that all members participate in conducting diligence and sharing their expertise with each other.
Most members will begin their membership with our angel investing bootcamp, a rigorous program taught by our founder who is a professor of venture capital at Columbia Business School. Our bootcamps are experiential in nature - participants immediately put the learning to practice by conducting diligence on a real startup under the mentorship of our team and seasoned angel investors.
The learning continues through a variety of workshops on topics ranging from cap table math to industry deep dives. These workshops are led by industry professionals, seasoned angel investors (many of which are also mentors for our network) and subject matter experts. We create a safe place to keep learning, asking questions, and honing your startup investing skills.
We are committed to supporting our members in furthering their careers through professional development opportunities and access to our network of accomplished members. Opportunities to serve on advisory boards, panels, or competition judges are often made available to our network. We also deepen our sense of community through our networking events such as supper clubs and happy hours.
The 37 Angels network is providing an excellent opportunity to support entrepreneurs and enable them to grow their businesses. As a new angel investor, I am learning how to evaluate companies and track my investments. Interacting with entrepreneurs and investors through the pitch forums and related events is fun. Thanks to 37 Angels, I am always evaluating what will potentially make a good investment!

Several years ago, I was looking for a way to re-engage with the business world and reactivate the left side of my brain when a friend introduced me to 37 Angels. The bootcamp definitely sparked latent quantitative activity which I have continued to exercise through deep dives on cap tables and participating on diligence teams. This coupled with pitch forums and accelerator demo days where extraordinary entrepreneurs entertain my visual and intuitive senses have me thinking on all cylinders. It's invigorating! I only wish I had more time to spend with the amazing women who make up 37 Angels.

The 37 Angels boot camp is the best platform I found to launch myself into the world of early-stage investing. Before joining 37 Angels, I investigated the education opportunities at other angel groups and 37 Angels was the only group to provide an intensive two-day small group immersion. Angela and her team are well plugged into the startup industry. Through the network, I have attended accelerator demo days with 37 Angels mentors and a deep dive on cap tables. 37 Angels gives you access to so many events and opportunities- all for you to enjoy!

37 Angels has been a fantastic way to step into the world of angel investing. The boot camp curriculum is thorough and accessible, and every step forward from there expands your knowledge and network in a very exciting way. The scope of opportunity and depth of involvement with 37 Angels is unlimited!

Being part of 37 Angels has been a tremendous learning experience. I’ve truly enjoyed learning about different industries other than the one I am in. It’s been wonderful to be able to tap into a well of knowledge from mentors and other members of the group – who made it possible for me to due diligence startups who operate in areas outside of my expertise.
— Debbie Hidajat, 37 Angels Member
I felt like I hit the jackpot when I learned about the 37 Angels bootcamp. It combined everything I needed right in that moment of my career and life – knowledge about angel investing, networking with other professional women, and doing it in a small, intimate setting. Angela is a true teacher and did a great job presenting the information. I felt safe asking dumb questions (I had plenty) and it has helped create the foundational understanding of the startup/VC ecosystem that I was missing.

37 Angels provides an opportunity for experienced and new angel investors to stay in touch and keep up to date with early stage investing trends and market. It has been very useful to attend social events with like-minded people and exchange ideas with other angles. The bootcamp ensures that every angel, even if new to the space, has the basic level of understanding and proficiency in analyzing an investment proposal which makes all interactions and idea sharing useful and productive.

Six of my partners and I traveled down from Boston for 37 Angels’ two day bootcamp. We mastered valuation, cap tables, market evaluation, competitive positioning, and made two immediate investments as a result of the pitch session. Plus we had fun while doing it! I highly recommend 37 Angels’ bootcamp to anyone interested in the world of angel investing, you will not be disappointed.

No. We believe that our angels should invest in companies that align with their interests and that can benefit from their advice and guidance. We do not restrict ourselves to only investing in women-led businesses.
Can men apply for membership?
At 37 Angels, we aim to activate investors through educational bootcamps, with the goal of increasing diversity in investing. In particular, we seek to reduce the gender gap in angel investing. We recognize that our goal cannot be achieved without the support of allies and do not wish to exclude anyone on the basis of their gender. Please apply and/or email us at admin@37angels.com if you have any questions.
Do I have to be based in the New York area to join the NY chapter / Are you ever going to have a program outside of NYC?
We have had participants from South Africa, Hong Kong, San Diego, San Francisco, Boston, and beyond! Our pitch forums take place every 2 months in NYC and our investors often travel in for those events (our largest 2nd cities are San Francisco and Boston). We do record our pitch forums and many of our events can be joined virtually. However, you may lose out on some of the benefits of the local networking. If you are interested in helping to coordinate a bootcamp in another city, email us at admin@37angels.com and let us know where you're based. We may come to your city next!
